Teaching has always come naturally to Mr. von Eiff. After graduating Catholic University with a MFA in writing , he accepted Assistant Professor positions at both the University of Maryland and the University of Baltimore. Years later, following the events of 9/11/01, his writing skills allowed him to leave a successful career in the medical implant industry to enter government service as an Intelligence Officer and Analyst.
Shooting has long been part of his life. Over the years he's enjoyed competing in pistol, rifle and shotgun. For the last decade, he's been certifying Maryland residents for their Concealed Carry Permits and Handgun Qualification Licenses or HQL. He has been a Maryland State Police Licensed and Certified Handgun Instructor for twenty years and a NRA Certified Firearms Instructor for over thirty years. He continues to provide private handgun training and coaching pro bono for law enforcement officers and discounted instruction for all First Responders.
By the time he was seventeen, Philip was already a NRA CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR in Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun. At the same time, he was winning medals in three-position small bore rifle competition. Over the years, he's found that handguns offered him the most challenge and they became a lifelong passion. An accomplished shot with any handgun he picks up, he has always favored the classic 9mm. Browning High Power. He will admit, however, that Glock’s FBI Gen 5, 19 M, would run a close second.
He should know, as he is a Glock Certified Advanced Armorer, one of a select number of civilian Glock Armorers to attain that Advanced Armorer status. Philip is also a SIG Sauer Certified Pistol Armorer, no mean feat considering the variety of designs in the Sig pistol line. Philip is also a Constellis, (formerly Blackwater) Certified M1911/M1911A1 and AR-15/ M-16 Armorer. These are the premier armorer certifications in the United States and the benchmark certifications for the industry.
Some people are just born teachers. Mike Case is one of those people. Soft spoken and patient, he is equally at home teaching seasoned shooters as he is working with those without any prior exposure to handguns. Like Philip, Mike started out shooting a variety of rifles, progressing to shotguns and finally handguns.
Unlike many local "instructors", he's NOT an insurance salesperson posing as an instructor. He's a highly trained NRA Certified Handgun Instructor and NRA Certified RANGE SAFETY OFFICER as well as a Maryland State Police Certified Handgun Instructor.
Mike also installs the Sentry QAP1E handgun safes we recommend. Instantly accesable to the owner, they are effectivly undetectable to the most experienced burglar. They are impossible for a child to open. Call him at 443-831-6942 for details.
"I was fortunate to take Tim's class in preparation for the Maryland Concealed Carry license application. I found Tim to be very knowledgeable and thoroughly professional. I highly recommend Tim von Eiff for all your firearms training needs."
